NOW YOU CAN TAP DANCE IN BRAZILIAN CARNAVAL 2009...

In 2008, Christiane Matallo made history when she spearheaded the
effort to include a group of tap dancers from all over Brazil (and me
the "Americana") in the samba school Mocidade Alegre... for the first
time ever, a group of tap dancers were included not only as a featured
choreographed segment, but also as part of the percussion for the
Brazilian Carnaval Celebration in Sao Paulo, Brazil. We were flooded
with news coverage and interest stories and it was by far one of the
most exciting venues in which we performed in front of some of the
largest audiences in the world!

Back by popular demand, we are trying to make it bigger than ever by
expanding to make this an international representation of tap dancers
worldwide...Want to Tap Dance in one of the most popular parties on
earth in February of 2009? Then send us your contact information with
interest to be included for the group that will be tap dancing in Sao
Paulo for Carnival in Sao Paulo, Brazil!

What people are saying abut Broadway Underground...

"Fabulously entertaining. Some of the most electrifying tap dancing I've ever seen by young energetic performers. Other dance performances highly unique. Very funny hosts. Great blackened catfish."

"This was a joyous event. Once it started, it moved wondrously. You could tell by the smiles on the faces with eyes glued to the stage that everyone was loving the show, full of dancers and musicians."

"You got to be there to feel it!! This time I did girls nite out, ages 3 - 70, and everyone couldn't stop talking about it. Will be there to support Broadway Underground again, and again."

American Tap Dance Foundation Youth Program Newsletter

Dear Parents and Dancers,

We are looking forward to sharing a wonderful year of tap dance with all our returning students at the American Tap Dance Foundation! We are now preparing for the 2008-2009 season.

All students who participated in the ATDF classes last year have been given class assignments for this season. Information was sent home with students in June, or sent via mail directly. If you have not registered, you should have received registration information recently in the mail (in mid-August).

We are currently taking student registration for fall classes. To pre-register and hold your place in class, please fill out the enrollment worksheet that you received and send in a deposit of $110.00 (registration fee & concert fee). If you need this information to be sent to you again, please let us know and we will re-send the enrollment worksheet to you.

In some cases, students may now have several options for class day and time, which is indicated on the enrollment worksheet. If you have questions about your assigned class, please contact Susan Hebach, Youth Program Director, via email at shebach@atdf.org, or by phone at the ATDF office 646.230.9564.

Please remember if you were on scholarship last season, you must download a new form, fill it out and get it to us my mail or fax by the deadline of August 11th.

If you have any questions regarding tuition and payments, additional class and sibling discounts, etc., please contact our Registrar and Education Assistant, Courtney Runft, via email at crunft@atdf.org, or by phone at 646.230.9564.

Fall 2008-09 session classes resume on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008.

If you are interested in a "shoe swap", please do plan to bring your old shoes and we will try to swap them with a pair to fit for this season. Our collection of donated shoes made a huge difference to many children in our program throughout the year, so thank you for your support!
....................................

New ATDF Youth & Year Round Programs Brochure
In our recent mailing to all our ATDF families we included extra copies of our new promotional brochure. Please do take the time to read it, and check out those fabulous pictures (you never know, you may see your dancer featured in the brochure!) Please help us promote our program by sharing them with friends and family, or leaving them on a local information board, etc. If you need more, please call us directly and we will send them to you. We appreciate your support!
