ATDF Youth Program E-Newsletter
Summer/Fall Preview 2010 news & events

Parents & Dancers,

We would like to thank all our students and families for a great season of tap dance here at the American Tap Dance Foundation. Our faculty and staff were all so pleased and proud to see our students on stage. It was very rewarding to see the hours of rehearsal and effort to prepare for the show were applauded by all who attended! Thanks again to many of you who sent inspiring and congratulatory messages, we loved hearing all your thoughts and really appreciate your support of our youth program.

Classes will resume officially for the 2010-11 season on Monday, September 13th, 2010. All students should have received an enrollment worksheet with information on which class options are recommended for your dancers this fall. In some cases, you may have several class options, or the schedule for your child's class may have changed. If you have not recieved an enrollment worksheet, or have any questions or schedule conflicts with the classes recommended, please email shebach@atdf.org, or crunft@atdf.org and we will work with you to find a class that fits into your schedule.

Early Bird Registration for Fall 2010-11
We have an "Early Bird" deadline for registration savings coming up. If you register by June 30th by paying your deposit and concert fee, and make full payment by August 9th, you can receive LAST YEAR'S tuition rates. That's a savings of 11%! Click here to be directed to the ATDF web page with tuition info, and schedules.

New Class added for Fall schedule: "Percussive Dance Forms"

In an effort to expand our programming and include new experiences for our students, we are adding a new class series for our students for next season. "Percussive Dance Forms" will be a tri-mester series, each session focusing on a different element of a related rhythm making dance form. This class offering will be held on Saturdays, from 1:30-2:30 for dancers ages 8-10, and from 2:45-3:45 for dancers 11 & up. Dancers can register for the whole 3 semester series, or just one or two of their choice. Here is the schedule:

Monday Night Tap Experience

Hey LA hoofers! It’s been over year and we’re still going strong! I put together this Monday Night Tap Experience for young hoofers to hone their teaching and improvisational skills. Each Monday night features a different teacher, who will teach an intermediate/ advanced level class for an hour and 15 minutes. After the class, everyone is welcome to participate in a tap jam.

All classes will be from 7:00- 8:15 pm. The tap jam is open to all tap dancers from 8:30- 9:30 pm.
This event will be held at my home studio: 4271 Madison Ave. Culver City, CA 90232, back house!
The class and jam are ONLY $5.00!!!

Dear friends,
Our latest short film has been nominated to the Toronto International Film Festival's Emerging Filmmaker Award. The film is a 4 minute documentary about a group of 9-12 year old kids who live in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. Their town is directly downstream from the Alberta oil sands, the world's largest and most toxic industrial project, and the pollution is destroying their way of life and killing their people. We're asking if you have 4 minutes to watch the film, hear their story and hopefully pass it on to your friends. These kids need their story to be shared far and wide. People need to know that this atrocity is happening!

Watch the film here - and if you love it vote for us:
https://tiff.cment.net/step1.html#
Select: "KEEPERS OF THE WATER" (and give it a minute to load before viewing)
Deadline for voting is JULY 14th.

You can see more about the kids and the film here:

In trust and solidarity
