ANNOUNCEMENT: Eugene Mosley / Walk of Stars

Jason Samuels Smith is scheduled to appear at the
celebration among
other special guests!

Eugene Mosley joining Walk of Stars

February 16, 2008
By Alexandyr Kent
akent@gannett.com

Artist Eugene Mosley will press his hands and feet into the
Greater
Shreveport's Walk of Stars on March 14.

"It's like a dream come true," Mosley said.

The longtime Shreveport resident made his name by creating
portraits
of entertainment celebrities like Sammy Davis Jr., Frank
Sinatra, Cab
Calloway and Johnnie Cochran. He was named the official
artist of
Davis and remains active in the Shreveport arts community.

Davis' widow, Altovise Davis, was happy to learn the news.
"Eugene
deserves it," she said by phone. "I think he puts a lot of
his heart
and soul into his artwork."

Mosley's sidewalk tribute under the Texas Street Bridge
will be near
squares honoring David Toms, Kix Brooks, Hal Sutton, Eddie
Robinson,
William Joyce and Huddie Ledbetter.

"Being in the same lineup with them is a great honor,"
Mosley said.

Mosley also has a Celebrity Jazz signature food line, which
puts his
name on steak sauce, salad dressings and wine. They are
available at
157 Wal-Marts across the country.

There will be an induction ceremony at 10:30 a.m. March 14
on the
plaza of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, 400
Edwards St.
Celebrity guests will attend.

More details are being planned. For information, call the
chamber's
Debra Wayt at (318) 677-2545.

From "Akeelah and the Bee", Marianne Williamson, A Return
to Love
(from chapter 'Personal Power') "Our deepest fear is not
that we are
inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond
measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask
ourselves, 'who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented,
fabulous?'
Actually, who are you not to be? There is nothing
enlightened about
shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around
you. We are
all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own
light
shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do
the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically
liberates others."

A Message from Brian "Footwork" Green:

PARTY PEOPLE,

MESSAGE: LOVE ALL OF YOU and stay truly loving, tolerant of
others
that are still sinning against others while you are trying
not to, and
have realize the errors of your ways. Because when you were
in sin
against others, there were people who were tolerant of you.
If you
have to take a person 1 on 1, tell them their errors of
their ways,
but, listen to them as well. Have forgiveness, and try not
to repeat
what you hear. Passing what you hear, only passes sin to
another's
ear, and then makes a person assume about another person.
Which, then,
does not give the person talked about any time to grow and
change in
the mind of the person that listened to the rumor said.
Watch more of
a person's walk, not their talk!! HAVE PATIENCE!! Let's
start to
change.

Hello all,

I wanted to let you know that my collaborator Joel
Jeske has put together some amazing upcoming classes. He
and I will be teaching a physical theatre class, and he
will also be teaching two separate clown classes.

Both Joel and I are very excited about these classes,
as they emphasize practical skills that can be applied to
any performer’s repertoire. Please let me or Joel know if
you are interested in any of these, and we will let you
know further details!

Clown In Practice
“Practical Skills for the Adventurous Performer”

Our approach to teaching is to provide practical, usable
skills and techniques for performers from any discipline
(theatre, dance, clown, circus, improv). We help you make
better, more exciting choices in your work, and we help you
liberate and channel your unique personality and skills
directly into your performances. Our Instructors come from
a broad range of professional and educational arenas as
directors and performers including Cirque du Soleil, Big
Apple Circus, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Dell’
Arte School of Physical Theatre, and NYU. Classes are six
sessions each, two hours per class.

1. Intro to Physical Theatre
Actions speak louder than words! Intro to Physical Theatre
offers actors, writers, and directors the opportunity to
develop original material that communicates primarily
through physical and visual means. This class is ideal for
artists looking to move beyond conventional approaches to
creating and performing. $250

2. Clown Essentials
Think bold! Think big! Clown Essentials offers performers
from every discipline the opportunity to learn practical,
immediately usable skills that can be used to make bolder
and more fearless choices in their work. Students will
begin by working on attitude, presence, physicality, and
using their own personality as a foundation for clown
performance. The classes will continue with work on solo,
duo, trio, and group scenes, creating multi-faceted
characters, and practical work on looking out at an
audience, knowledge of venue, and the rule of 3, 5, 7, and
9. $250

3. Clown in Practice
A class for beginners and seasoned professionals alike!
Clown in Practice empowers students to perform with
confidence in any setting. Using the fundamental
techniques of improvisational theatre (agreement,
teamwork), this class liberates students to create and
perform in a wide variety of environments and ensembles.
Classes will cover status, taking the stage, finding the
game, structure and routine, tension and release, and
creating and developing new material. $250

CLASSES BEGIN APRIL 15th

Roots Pagode Course! - Please Confirm ASAP

The first Roots Pagode Course will take place on
Wednesdays, March 5,
12, 19 & 26 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Progressive Music
Studios (630
Ninth Avenue between 44th & 45th Streets, NYC, Suite 711,
Studio 0).

I am about to send out a general announcement to the Samba
New York!
list but wanted to give you all a head start in signing up.

The minimum number of students needed to run the Course is
10. The
maximum is 15. I know I mentioned that the Course fee would
be $90.00
for the month. However, because of space restrictions and
the rental
cost, the fee will be $100.00 ($25.00 per class). At least
for this
first month, the Course will be available only to students
who
register for the full month -- which means a greater focus
and more
individual attention for you guys. Progressive Music has
assured me
they will clear out the room and provide enough seats for
up to 15
people.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you'll be
signing up for
the only pagode class in New York City! I look forward to
hearing from
you.

Below are some You Tube links to the songs we learned
yesterday,
