The New York African Diaspora Film Festival

presents the award winning HD feature,
The Rise & Fall of Miss Thang.
As a part of their Women's Indies Night,
"Miss Thang" will be shown with the short documentary Gene
Boy Came
Home.
After the screenings there will be a Q&A with the film's
star,
Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards, and filmmaker Stacie E. Hawkins
followed by a
catered reception. The event will take
place at the Schomburg Center in Harlem this Thursday
December 6 at
8:30pm. The Schomburg Center is located at
135th street and Malcolm X Blvd in Manhattan.

The Rise and Fall of Miss Thang
tells the story of a young Chicago woman who re-kindles her

the art of tap dance. "Miss Thang" recently won the Best
Feature
Narrative Award at the International Black Film Festival of
Nashville.
The film stars Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, a world renowned
tap dancer
who made history when she became the first female dancer in
Savion
Glover's Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk on Broadway.

Formed in 2002, Hãhãhães is named after the Indian tribe
Pataxó-Hãhãhães that once inhabited the city of Salvador in
Bahia,
Brazil. Lead by master Afro-Brazilian percussionist Dendê,
the beat is
always central, but it is tempered by thought provoking
lyrics and
sweet melodies. Comprised of musicians of various
backgrounds, the
groups' diversity permeates its music with rhythms ranging
from
Nigerian Afrobeat to Brazilian Samba to Cuban Pilón.
About Dendê
A former member of Timbalada, Dendê has been performing
professionally
since the age of 14. With Timbalada, Dendê toured all over
Brazil,
Europe and Asia, appeared on various television shows and
has performed
and recorded with such artists as Marisa Monte, Gilberto
Gil, Carlinhos
Brown, Yvette Sangalo and Sepultura. Having left Brazil in
2001, Dendê
now lives in New York, performing and recording with his
groups
Hãhãhães, an Afro-Brazilian/Afro-Cuban band, Arrastão an
Afro-Brazilian
percussion band and Ologundê, an Afro-Brazilian folkloric
music and
dance group. With these groups he has toured all over the
US and
Europe. In addition to his own work, he has his performed
and recorded
with artists such as Mongo Santamaría, Jerry Gonzales,
Daniel Moreno,
Tico da Costa, Vinicius Cantuária and Alessandra Belloni.
Dendê also
teaches Afro-Brazilian percussion in the New York City
area.

Carnaval with Dendê in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil January 27
February 10th, 2008 Experience Carnaval with Master
Afro-Brazilian
Percussionist Dendê
Spend the week before Carnaval in intensive classes at the
Office of
Musical Investigation in Pelourinho, the historic center of
Bahia.
Then spend the week of Carnaval playing in bloco Kizumba
and parading
with bands like Ile Aiye, Timbalada, Olodum and Muzenza.
Travelling
with Dendê will give you access to a side of Carnaval that
most
tourists never see. If you love to drum or want to learn
how, this is
the way to experience Carnaval in Bahia!??A former member
of
Timbalada, Dendê has been performing professionally since
the age of
14. With Timbalada he toured all over Brazil, Europe and
Asia, and has
performed and recorded with such artists as Marisa Monte,
Gilberto
Gil, Carlinhos Brown, Yvette Sangalo and Sepultura. Having
left Brazil
in 2001, Dendê now lives in the US, performing with his
groups
Hãhãhães , Arrastão, Ologundê, and Samba de Tres. He has

performed with such notable artists as Giovanni Hidalgo,
Zakir

person 1 on 1 and tell them their errors of their ways, and

and then
makes a person assume about another person. Which does not
give the
person talked about any time to grow and change in the mind
of the
person that listened to the rumor said. Let's start to

actors\actresses for two new non-equity comedic\dramatic
stage plays
