Two distinct worlds of dance collide when India's
traditional dance sensation Pandit Chitresh Das takes the
stage with American tap phenomenon Jason Samuels Smith. The
two met backstage in 2004 at the acclaimed American Dance
Festival, and have since made international dance history
as they share the spotlight and showcase their rapid-fire
moves. Displaying uncanny similarities in footwork, rhythms
and movement, the 59 year old Pandit Chitresh Das from
Calcutta first performs his masterful Kathak dance,
followed by the 23 year-old New York tap master, Smith. Act
two highlights the dancers and musicians communicating
across disciplines in an explosive feat of improvisation
using rhythm as the common language. Don't miss this
dynamic duo as the fastest feet in the East and West wow
the audience.
